Roles

It is adviseable to read the information on the main page before reviewing the roles.

27th Border Outpost – A Tale from the Fog features 32 characters – 16 borderguards and 16 civilians.

During sign-up, you will be asked to select the three roles you would most like to play, so take your time and explore them carefully. Your character is expected to know the others anyway.

Keep in mind that choosing a role is an important decision, but not the only one shaping your experience. Each player receives additional character information after sign-up, and your answers to the registration questions help us prepare the experience that fits you best.

If you have additional questions, we encourage you to reach out to our team. Please note, however, that it typically takes a couple of days for us to respond.

The Borderguards

A mismatched collection of conscripts and career soldiers assigned to a forgotten outpost and a job nobody expected to matter. Having a legitimate sevenhillean uniform is not a requirement to play a borderguard, but keeping to the general aesthetic is adviseable.

1. Sergeant Georg Zumwalt

Commanding officer of 27th Border Outpost and veteran of the Northern War. A disciplined professional and old-school instructor, he genuinely believes younger soldiers deserve better training than they are getting.

Requirements:
Mandatory: Character must be male.
Recommended: Familiarity with the Northern War and the broader Fog LARP setting.

Appearance:
A weathered military look — practical uniform pieces, signs of long service and little concern for appearance.

Jean Rasczak (Starship Troopers)
Ser Barristan Selmy (Game of Thrones)

2. Corporal Yago Zverski / Yaga Zverska

Executive officer of 27th Border Outpost and a career soldier with retirement finally within sight. Bitter, irritable and convinced standards have collapsed, they rule through experience, shouting and the authority of someone who has survived longer than everyone else.

Requirements:
Mandatory: Player should provide age-appropriate makeup.
Recommended: None.

Appearance:
An aging military look — tired posture, worn equipment and the energy of someone who stopped expecting competence from others years ago.

Sergeant Major Plumley (We Were Soldiers)
Bill Dauterive (King of the Hill)

3. Corporal Yavor “The Herb” Konarski / Yavora “The Herb” Konarska

Medic of 27th Border Outpost and a man who has seen too many people die for dramatic speeches. Cynical, blunt and rarely seen without a cigarette, Yavor has long since replaced optimism with competence.

Requirements:
Mandatory: None.
Recommended: Basic medical knowledge for improvisation purposes.

Appearance:
A tired military medic look — practical field clothing, rolled sleeves and ideally something that suggests nicotine dependency.

Sherman Cottle (Battlestar Galactica)
Doc Roe (Band of Brothers)
Niko Bellic (Grand Theft Auto IV)

4. Cadet Belur / Belura

A military medical student completing field specialization at 27th Border Outpost. Belur believes medicine exists to preserve life — which makes military service feel like studying architecture inside a burning building.

Requirements:
Mandatory: None.
Recommended: Comfortable playing a compassionate character who avoids violence when possible.

Appearance:
Simple military or civilian clothing with practical additions. Satchel, notebooks, rolled sleeves, improvised medical details.

Requirements:
Recommended: Player should provide orc makeup suitable for extended wear.
Recommended: None.

Appearance:
A sturdy orc built for work and battle — practical clothes, worn military pieces and armour that looks borrowed, repaired or repurposed over time.

Neat and deliberate. Clean lines, maintained equipment, someone trying noticeably harder.
